Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of March 20-26, 2006. Women’s track freshman Katie Crandall and men’s track sophomore Wes Byler earned the honor for their excellent efforts during the week’s competitions.
Katie Crandall
Katie Crandall, a psychology major from Anderson, Ind. (Lapel High School), picked up two firsts for Huntington University at Defiance College’s Dick Small Track Invitational to help lead the Foresters to a fourth place finish. Crandall dominated the hurdle events, taking the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.21 and the 400 hurdles in 1:08.42. She also placed fourth in the high jump and ran a leg of Huntington’s 4x100 relay that finished third with a time of 53.71. The Foresters will travel to Manchester College for their next meet on Saturday, April 1, 2006, at 11 a.m.
Wes Byler
Wes Byler, a history major from West Jefferson, Ohio (West Jefferson High School), had an outstanding individual performance for Huntington University at Defiance College’s Dick Small Track Invitational. Byler picked up a seventh place finish in the men’s hammer throw with a toss of 118’ 9”. It out-distanced his previous best in the event by almost 24’. The Foresters finished fourth in the meet. Huntington travels to Manchester College for their next meet on Saturday, April 1, 2006, at 11 a.m.
