Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of Jan. 19-25. Women’s basketball junior Courtney Beerbower and men’s basketball freshman Caleb Kennedy earned the honor for their outstanding efforts during the week’s competitions.
Courtney Beerbower, an elementary/special education major from Auburn, Ind. (DeKalb High School), played an instrumental role in leading the Foresters to a 57-55 victory over Marian College. She topped all scorers in the contest with 20 points, including two free throws with 3.8 seconds remaining to give Huntington the final margin of victory. Beerbower is currently scoring 11.1 points per game and grabbing a team-high 7.7 rebounds each game. The NAIA Division II 14th-ranked Foresters (15-4) return to action on Jan. 28 when they host Taylor University at 7 p.m.
Caleb Kennedy
Caleb Kennedy, a freshman from Charlottesville, Ind. (Eastern Hancock High School), turned in his first double-double of the season in Huntington’s 75-52 win over Marian College during the week. In his second start of the season, Kennedy scored 11 points and pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds. Kennedy is averaging 6.8 points and 4.5 boards for the 14-8 Foresters. Huntington will next travel to Taylor University on Jan. 27 for a 7 p.m. start.
