Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of Feb. 16-22. Women’s basketball junior Courtney Beerbower and men’s track freshman Matthias Haller earned the honor for their outstanding efforts during the week’s competitions.
Courtney Beerbower, an elementary/special education major from Auburn, Ind. (DeKalb High School), played an instrumental role in leading the Foresters to a 2-0 week to close out the regular season schedule. She averaged 15.5 points while shooting 52% (11-21) from the field and 90% (9-10) at the line. She also led the team with her 8.5 rebounds per contest. Beerbower is currently scoring 11.4 points per game and grabbing a team-high 7.7 rebounds each game. The NAIA Division II 16th-ranked Foresters (21-6) will host Spring Arbor University on Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. in the opening round of the MCC tournament.
Matthias Haller
Matthias Haller, a biology major from Lahr, Germany, turned in an outstanding performance at the Grand Valley State University Indoor Track Invitational. Haller won the 800 meter with a time of 1:54.94. His time also met qualification standards to compete in the NAIA Indoor Track National Championships in Johnson City, Tenn., on March 5-7.
