Matthew Wright can’t say much about his job. His employer, ITT Exelis, caters to clients such as NASA, the Department of Homeland Security and the Marines. The company claims to provide “mission-critical, next generation solutions for the command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance market.”
This 2009 grad is in a whole new league.
Wright left HU with a computer science degree and began working as a web developer for Reusser Design, which is owned by fellow alum Nate Reusser (2003). After two and a half years in that position, Wright moved on to the local ITT Exelis branch in Fort Wayne where he serves as a senior program analyst.
“It’s a big change,” he said. “It’s a larger company and a lot more responsibility.”
When Wright first came to HU, he struggled in the program because of the high expectations that the professors had for their students. He said it was the one-on-one relationships with his professors that helped him to succeed.
“It’s definitely intimidating, but if you really stick with it, you’ll do fine,” he said.
Wright loved the community at HU as well as the acceptance he felt in the residence halls. That combined with the small classes and personal attention from his professors gave him the perfect college experience.
“I had a really great time,” he said.
