These new members will join Indiana’s Beta chapter of Alpha Chi, a chapter that has been recognized for a fourth consecutive year as a Star chapter by the National Council of Alpha Chi. The Beta chapter is one of fewer than 20 of Alpha Chi’s “300 plus” chapters to have won this award every year since it was inaugurated in 1995. The Huntington College chapter also scored an unusual “double” this year in National Alpha Chi Scholarship competitions, with Maria Kurtz winning a graduate fellowship and Kriss Hultman, this year’s chapter president, winning an undergraduate scholarship. In addition, Hultman won a Region Five Alpha Chi scholarship. Huntington College and the local chapter also made their marks in the new Alpha Chi National promotional video, much of which was filmed on campus last fall and included excerpts from the chapter’s induction and interviews with several Huntington College students. The chapter will continue its vigorous activities this year, hosting the 2000 Region Five convention among other events.

This year’s chapter officers are President Kriss Hultman, Vice President Heather Stapleton, Secretary Cam Warner, and Treasurer Holly Newman. College sponsors are Dr. Paul E. Michelson (History), Dr. Ann McPherren (Business and Economics) and Mrs. Jean T. Michelson (RichLyn Library).
