Huntington, Ind.—Matthew Plett, a graphic design major of Rensselaer, Ind., and Rachel Kraus, a secondary art education major and fine art minor of Greenville, Ohio, will team together to present their senior art show entitled “Imagination Occupation.”
Their work will be on exhibit in the Robert E. Wilson Gallery November 8 – 25. The gallery is located upstairs in the Merillat Centre for the Arts and is open to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday.
An artist reception will be held Saturday, November 16, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Robert E. Wilson Gallery. Admission is free and the public is cordially invited to attend.
The exhibit will include two bodies of work by Plett, one in computer illustration and the other in mixed media collage. He will display examples of his photography and CD covers and a recent work containing a series of graphic poster collages using mixed media. “The emotional expression in music serves as an inspiration for much of my work,” stated Plett.
Kraus will display oil painting and printmaking pieces. She chose the theme of abstracted natural forms for both mediums. “My emphasis in these works is in the color and mark-making,” said Kraus. “I use color for emotional expression and mark-making to create energy and movement. I want to allow the viewer to be open to their own interpretation.”
