Music Department to offer Piano Pedagogy emphasis

Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University Music Department will offer a new emphasis in Piano Pedagogy, beginning in the fall of 2005. The emphasis will be a new track of study under the existing Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance.

The current Piano Performance degree provides a strong foundation for music students to attend graduate school or pursue a career in concert performance or university teaching. The addition of a Piano Pedagogy emphasis will help prepare students to step immediately into the independent music teaching profession. The emphasis will also require students to do a January Term practicum in Studio Observation and internship experiences in piano teaching.

Huntington University currently offers degrees in Music, Music Business, Music Composition, Music for the Contemporary Church, Music Education in Choral and Instrumental music, Music Performance in Instrumental, Vocal, and Piano music, and Worship Leadership.
