2013-09-19
FORT WAYNE, Ind. – STAR 88.3, a contemporary Christian radio station in Fort Wayne, has been named the Radio Station of the Year for medium markets by Christian Music Broadcasters. This is the second time in four years that STAR 88.3 has been recognized with this national award.

“We want to thank the listeners for their support of us at STAR 88.3,” said Melissa Montana, CEO/president for STAR 88.3. “We give God the glory for His call on our lives to bring hope to our community through this outreach, and we are thankful for the many families who partner with us.”

In 2009, Huntington University formed a partnership with STAR 88.3 to create STAR Educational Media Network, the non-profit entity that oversees the station.

“We congratulate STAR 88.3 for this significant recognition. This honor showcases the importance of Christian radio in our community,” said Heather Barkley, director of communications at Huntington University. “We greatly value our partnership with the station because of our shared mission.”

STAR 88.3 was given the Christian Music Broadcasters (CMB) Award on Sept. 4 at the networking dinner at the Disney Yacht & Beach Club Convention Center in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Radio stations were judged in five categories ranging from on-air quality to community impact and leadership in the industry. STAR 88.3’s unique events, such as the Adoption Celebration and its “friendly and pleasant” tone on the air were just two of the many qualities that the judges identified as what set STAR 88.3 apart from other stations in similar size markets across the country.
