Goetz named coordinator of online programs

Huntington, Ind.—Huntington University’s Julie Goetz has transitioned to a full-time position as the coordinator of online programs. For the past three years, she has worked part-time at the university with the online Master of Arts in youth ministry leadership program.

“I believe HU can create courses online giving students the opportunity to use technology, form community groups and be challenged to learn and grow just as we do in the traditional classroom,” said Goetz. “We have a chance to reach students where they live, work and play.”

As coordinator of the online programs, Goetz oversees and manages all distance learning courses as well as develops policy and strategic planning for the advancement of the online programs. She will manage and review course content, evaluate the programs, and train and review faculty. Her other responsibilities include collecting and reporting administrative data and developing the learning management systems used by the online courses.

Before her employment at Huntington University, Goetz taught computer classes to teachers through the Region 8 Education Service Center for 11 years. She graduated from Indiana University-Bloomington with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and plans to pursue a Master of Education degree with a specialization in instructional design for online learning.

Pending accreditation of its online program, Huntington plans to offer an online Associate of Science in organizational management through the EXCEL Adult Degree Programs.
