Department of Music to host annual band invitational

Students from the 2006 Band Invitational
Huntington, Ind.—Director Scott Hippensteel and the Huntington University Wind Ensemble with will host the Fifth Annual Band Invitational on Oct. 9.

Crestview Middle School Eighth Grade Band with Douglas McElhaney, director; the Riverview Middle School Seventh/Eighth Grade Band with James Court, director; and the Huntington North High School Concert Band with Thaine Campbell and John Gardner, directors, will join the university’s Wind Ensemble.

Music featured will include “1812 Overture,” “March on a Scottish Air,” “Bryce Canyon Overture,” “Americans We,” “Down A Country Lane,” “E Pluribus Unum,” “American Civil War Fantasy,” “Clarinet Polka,” and “Suite of Old American Dances.”

The downbeat will be 7 p.m. in the Zurcher Auditorium of Merillat Centre for the Arts, and no tickets are necessary for this free concert.
