The HU women's soccer
team played under the lights at Indiana Wesleyan and came up short against the #9-ranked Wildcats 2-0. Both teams relied on solid defense and several great plays from their respective goalies to battle through 90 minutes of play but it was the Wildcats who cashed in on several plays. They took a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute of play and found the back of the net again on a penalty kick at the 81:55 mark to claim the 2-0 victory.
"Indiana Wesleyan is great team and tonight they were just better than us. We can't make any excuses as a team," commented Coach Burgher. "We came out and played hard but they are ranked ninth in the nation for a reason. We are moving forward as a program and it's exciting to see the change in how we compete."
Indiana Wesleyan held the edge in shots 20-13. HU keeper Caitlin Adams finished with seven saves. The Foresters are 6-6-1 (2-1-1 in MCC play). They travel to Bethel College on Tuesday for a 7:00 p.m. kick-off.
