HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The Forester volleyball program inked its fifth recruit for the 2014 season with the signing of Worthington Christian standout Janelle Wilcox.
Wilcox wrapped up her career by helping guide the Warriors to their second OHSAA Volleyball Division IV District Runner-up title in three years. The middle blocker saved her best for last by tallying 111 kills, 68 blocks and 138 digs to go along with 23 aces and a 92.9 serving percentage this past fall.
She did a little bit of everything for the Warriors and for her efforts received numerous awards including Mid-State League All-Conference First Team and Central District Second Team accolades as well as receiving an invitation to the Central District Volleyball Coaches Association All-Star game.
During her three years in red and gold, Wilcox accumulated 183 kills, 111 blocks, 238 digs and 39 aces to lead her team to a 50-22 record.
In the off-season, Wilcox spends her time playing for the Kaepa Buckeye Volleyball Club out of Westerville, Ohio. In 2012 she was instrumental in helping her U16 Elite squad earn the No. 1 ranking in the Ohio Valley Region and last club season her 17U team moved up to the American level.
“Huntington University's Volleyball program is pleased to welcome Janelle Wilcox to the Forester squad,” said Coach Settle. “Janelle is an outstanding student-athlete whose athleticism and skill will add depth to our team. We also look forward to the leadership Janelle will provide that will be an integral part of moving our program forward.”
Janelle is the daughter of David and Marilyn Wilcox of Westerville, Ohio.
