Ward, Lindbloom named Forester Athletes of the Week


Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of April 27-May 3. Women’s softball senior Lauren Ward and men’s track senior Dan Lindbloom earned the honor for their outstanding efforts during the week’s competitions.

Lauren Ward, an economics and finance major from Butler, Ind. (Eastside High School), was selected to the Mid-Central Conference All-Tournament team. The senior hurler struck out 12 batters in 10 innings of work in the postseason tournament. She finished the season with a 2.53 earned run average and led the conference in strikeouts with 197. The Foresters completed their season with a new program record 27 wins against 18 losses.

Dan Lindbloom
Dan Lindbloom, an exercise science major from Evergreen Park, Ill. (Chicago Christian High School), turned in an outstanding individual performance at the 2009 Pacesetter Invitational held at Indiana State University. He placed sixth in the 5000 meter run and his time of 15:11.28 met qualifying standards to compete in the NAIA Track & Field National Championships May 21-23. Lindbloom also has qualified to compete in the 3000 meter steeplechase at the national event. The Foresters will next travel to North Central College on May 9.
