HUNTINGTON, Ind. - It was a busy weekend of volleyball for the Foresters as they split a pair of conference matches to move to 3-12 overall, 2-6 in league play.

The HU volleyball team didn’t let the long drive to Mount Vernon distract them from logging its second conference win Friday night as they beat the Cougars in four, 25-20, 17-25, 25-22, 25-19.

Heather Medich had a breakout night, tallying 15 kills to lead her team offensively. Melissa Grossman and Audrey Mallers added nine and seven kills respectively. Jensen Carnahan was at the center of it all, dishing out 31 assists. Codie Morey paced HU defensively with 19 digs while Kelsey Kruse and Carnahan finished with 12 and ten respectively.

The Foresters formed a wall at the net, logging a season-best 15 team blocks. Leading the charge was Ashlyn Wendling and Grossman. Wendling finished with three solo blocks and Grossman was credited with a solo block while assisting five others.

Having returned to the friendly confines of Platt Arena on Saturday, things didn’t go as well for Huntington as they lost in straight sets, 25-18, 25-21, 28-26, to Marian University.

Grossman and Mallers each finished with nine kills but it wouldn’t be near enough as the Knights owned a 50-31 hitting advantage. Carnahan finished with 27 assists and a team-high 12 digs.

The Foresters are back in action on Wednesday when they host Bethel College at 7:00 p.m.
