Volleyball opens up league play with win over Goshen

HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The HU volleyball team opened up conference play Wednesday evening with a win by outlasting Goshen College 3-2 (25-23, 25-21, 24-26, 13-25, 15-7) at Platt Arena. With this win, the Foresters improve to 2-4 overall, 1-0 in league play.

It was a cat and dog fight through the first four games with HU squeaking out two wins, before their visitors returned the favor, forcing a fifth and final set where the Foresters more than doubled up GC’s score to claim the hard fought victory.

Melissa Grossman led the team with 15 kills and a .355 kill percentage in addition to adding two solo blocks while partnering up for eight other blocks. Heather Medich added 13 kills while Codie Morey and Kelsey Kruse paced the Foresters defensively with 19 and 17 digs respectively. Jensen Carnahan dished out 39 assists and finished with 11 digs.

Huntington is back in action this weekend when they host Saint Francis on Friday before heading to Spring Arbor on Saturday.
