Vivas brothers named Forester Athletes of Week

Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of Oct. 6-12. Brothers Gonzalo and Martin Vivas, a senior and sophomore, respectively, on the men’s tennis team earned the honor for their outstanding efforts during the week’s competitions.

Gonzalo Vivas, a business management major, and his brother Martin, a computer science major from Lima, Peru, put together an outstanding MCC tournament performance as doubles’ partners. The pair entered the tournament as the second seed in the #1 doubles’ bracket and made their way to the championship match where they upset the top-seeded team from Indiana Wesleyan 9-8 to win the title. Gonzalo also earned MCC All-Conference honors for the second time in his career. The Foresters finished in a third place tie in the team scoring for the tournament after finishing in a tie for seventh in the regular season standings.
