BLUFFTON, Ohio - Lisa Underwood proved to be the thorn in Bluffton University’s side as she played a part in all three of HU’s scores to lift the Forester women’s soccer team to a 3-1 win over the Beavers Friday afternoon.
While both teams logged ten shots apiece for the contest, the Forester women’s soccer team made the most of their opportunities to record their seventh win of the season.
Underwood made her presence known within the first three minutes of play when she was credited with an assist to Erin Barclay who dribbled through several defenders and found side netting to give HU the early 1-0 lead.
Twenty minutes later Underwood found the back of the net on a put back from Brittany Hartman’s rickashaed shot off the cross bar to extend the lead to 2-0.
Underwood struck again less than 30 seconds later when she chipped the keeper from 35 out to blow the game wide open.
The Beavers finally got on the board with less than ten minutes remaining but it was too little too late as HU cruised to the 3-1 road win.
Samantha Barclay and Mary Whybrew split time in goal and finished with three and one saves respectively.
The Foresters (7-2) now turn their attention to league play to face Indiana Wesleyan University on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
