Despite a gutsy effort by the HU men's soccer
team, it was the Trolls of Trinity Christian College who squeaked out the 3-2 overtime win over the Foresters on Saturday afternoon.
Things didn't look good for the Huntington as they started the game with an own goal in the second minute of play and then gave up a second goal in the 49th minute to find themselves down 2-0. But Jake Essig's goal at the 74:21 mark gave HU a much-needed boost as they found new life just 12 minutes later when Nick Bunting scored his second goal of the season to force overtime. While the momentum clearly favored the Foresters, it was the Trolls who found the back of the net in the extra period to snag the 3-2 win and squelch HU's late-game heroics.
"I am proud of the way the boys fought today coming from behind the way they did," said Coach Lawson. "But I am most excited about the improvements we have made in our game from just one week ago. We were getting balls into dangerous areas with numbers up and that is something we are going to look to build on."
