In their final MCC doubleheader of the season, the Foresters (11-26, 6-10) dropped both games to Taylor University 2-0 and 12-4.
Pitching played a key role in game one. Taylor's Jil Tomaszewski shut out HU on six hits while Lauren Ward limited the Trojans to just two hits. Unfortunately for the Foresters, one of the two hits was a two-run homerun by Taylor's Amy Richardson in the top of the sixth, which turned out to be the game winner.
In game two, HU took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Kaley Fode singled to drive in April Snider. The Trojans put four on the board in the top of the fourth, but the Foresters came back with one in their half of the frame to cut it to 4-2. Taylor then blew the game open with six runs on seven hits in the fifth. The Foresters made it 10-3 with a run in the bottom of the fifth, but the Trojans picked up two more in the seventh. HU needed a big rally in their final at-bat, but managed just one run before succumbing to the Trojans.
Snider was a bright spot in the Forester lineup going 3-4 at the plate and scoring twice. She also had three putouts and five assists in the field. Fode, Ward and Rebekah Gumbiner each added two hits for HU. Ashley Scally took the loss for the Foresters. In four innings of work, she gave up eight runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out two.
