Strong, Wust chosen as Huntington's Athletes of Week

Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of Sept. 3-9, 2007. Women’s tennis junior Stephanie Strong and men’s soccer senior Andrew Wust earned the honors for their outstanding efforts during the week’s competitions.

Stephanie Strong, an elementary education major from Goshen, Ind. (Fairfield High School), helped lead Huntington to two wins during the week with a perfect 4-0 record. On Sept. 5, Strong defeated Bethel’s Bree Oles 6-2, 6-1 at #1 singles and teamed with Raelyn Althoff to win 8-5 at #1 doubles. In Saturday’s match with Spring Arbor, she disposed of Amy Smith 6-0, 6-1 in singles and got the 8-4 win with Althoff in doubles. Huntington is currently 4-1 on the season and will next travel to Grace College on Sept. 15 at 12:30 p.m.

Andrew Wust
Andrew Wust, an educational ministries major from Huntington, Ind. (Los Pinares High School), scored three goals and added an assist to propel the Foresters to a 2-0 week. In Huntington’s 2-1 win over Franklin, Wust netted the game-winner with less than five minutes left in regulation, and he scored twice and assisted another in the Foresters’ 10-2 romp over Bluffton. Huntington (3-1) returns to action on Sept. 15 when they travel to Heidelberg College for a 1 p.m. start.
