Stingy defense lifts HU past Lancers 1-0

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Lisa Underwood’s goal in the 22nd minute against conference rival Grace College proved to be the game-winner Saturday afternoon at the Fort Wayne Sport Club as the Foresters hung on for the 1-0 win.

The Lancers logged 13 shots to keep goalie Samantha Barclay busy much of the afternoon. She finished with ten saves on the day and was credited with the shutout.

Saturday’s win marked Huntington’s sixth clean sheet of the season and their first win against a nationally ranked opponent. The Lancers received votes in the NAIA’s most recent poll.

HU finished with ten shots, seven on goal.

The Foresters improve to 8-3 overall, 1-1 in conference play. They are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Goshen College for a 7:00 kick-off with the Maple Leafs.
