Sliger commits to Huntington


HUNTINGTON, Ind. - Lakewood Park Christian School standout Courtney Sliger is the latest addition to Head Coach Doug Gower’s Huntington University softball squad.

The 5-7 shortstop helped guide her team to a 2012 IHSAA Class A Softball State Championship last season. She finished the year with a .376 batting average and tallied 41 hits, 13 for extra bases. She also scored 32 runs and knocked in 27 others.

Four game into her final campaign, Sliger has collected three hits, four RBI, three runs and three stolen bases. The Panthers remain perfect on the season at 4-0, outscoring their opponents 38-5.

Courtney is the daughter of Kris and Cathy Sliger of Auburn, Ind.

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 46 NAIA All-America honors and 202 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
