Huntington, Ind. - The Forester women’s soccer team has announced its fourth signing for the 2011 season. Alex Shaffer from La Grange, Kentucky, has signed her national letter of intent to continue her playing career and education at Huntington University.
Shaffer is a three-year varsity player from South Oldham High School in Crestwood, Ky. Shaffer has played in the Thoroughbreds Soccer Club and currently plays for United 1996 FC. Off the field, she is an honors student and member of the Spanish club, ski club, spirit club and choir.
Shaffer who plans on majoring in exercise science said, “When I first visited, I fell in love with the campus. Also, the girls on the team made me feel like I belonged at Huntington,” said Shaffer. “I’m excited to play college soccer and move away from home.”
“Alex is a top player that is instantly going to make our team better. She can come in right away and play multiple positions at a high level,” said Head Coach Ryan Burgher. “I knew right away that she would make a great addition to our team. She has a great personality and is not just a top player, but a great person. We are all very excited to have Alex join our family here at Huntington.”
Alex is the daughter of Vicki and Scott Shaffer.
