On a cool and cloudy night, the Forester men's soccer
team traveled to Holy Cross College where the Saints handed them a 1-0 loss.
It was a sluggish first half for HU as they found themselves on their end of the field for much of the first 45 minutes. With 15 seconds left in the half, the pressure finally got the best of the Foresters as a Holy Cross midfielder found the back of the net to give the Saints a 1-0 lead. After regrouping at intermission, Huntington played a much more aggressive second half. Unfortunately the Foresters never got their break as Holy Cross held on for the win.
"After playing on our heels and being outshot 14-2 in the first half, I was pleased with our second 45 minutes of play," said Coach Lawson. "Even though we never scored, I thought we did a much better job of controlling midfield with more possessional play in the second half."
Chris Fox and Drew Mattingly split time at the goalie spot, recording four and two saves respectively. The Foresters' record stands at 1-6. They travel to Bluffton on Saturday in doubleheader action with the women.
