Huntington University women’s soccer coach Ryan Burgher announced the signing of his ninth recruit, April Reyes from Wayne High School, for the 2009-10 school year.
Reyes was a two-year starter at New Haven High School in her freshman and sophomore seasons. She then moved to Wayne High School where she started her junior and senior seasons. In her senior campaign Reyes earned Second-Team All-Conference honors.
Throughout her high school years, Reyes has been a active member in her church's youth group. She also spends her personal time as a mentor for two middle school students.
Reyes, who will be majoring in nursing at Huntington said, “The Christian atmosphere is great! It’s awesome having the opportunity to go to a school where I will receive a secular education as well as a biblical education. Playing on a soccer team that is all about serving God first is just the cherry on the top,” said Reyes. “I’m really looking forward to soccer season this fall! It’s exciting to know that I’m going to be part of a team that loves to play soccer and serves the same God I do.”
“April is the type of girl that any program would want," said Coach Burgher. "I’m really excited that she chose to continue her education and playing career with our family at Huntington. April absolutely understands the vision of Huntington soccer and our pursuit to be a Christ-centered team. From her first visit to campus, April just had a glow about her and the whole team is excited that she is going to be a part of our team.”
