Ramey, Kock named Forester Athletes of the Week

Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of January 2-8, 2006. Men’s basketball junior Alex Kock and women’s basketball senior Jessica Ramey earned the honor for their excellent efforts during the weeks’ competitions.


Jessica Ramey

Jessica Ramey, a recreation management major from Kimmell, Ind. (West Noble High School), earned the honor for the second straight week with her solid play in both of Huntington’s games. On Wednesday, Ramey kept the Foresters in the game against Marian College, scoring 16 of Huntington’s 23 first half points, and finished with a game-high 21 points and four assists in the contest. In Saturday’s 52-37 win over Goshen College, she again led all scorers in the game with 14 points and also dished out eight assists. Ramey is currently averaging 14.4 points and 5.2 assists per game for Huntington. The Foresters return to action on Wednesday, January 11, 2006, when they host Spring Arbor University at 7 p.m.


Alex Kock

Alex Kock, a physical education and health major from Auburn, Ind. (DeKalb High School), blistered the nets to help lead Huntington to two wins last week. Kock averaged 24 points in the two games on 67 percent (20-30) shooting, including 44 percent (4-9) from behind the arc and 80 percent (4-5) at the line. In the Foresters’ 69-62 win over Marian College, Kock went 10-14 from the field for 21 points, and in Huntington’s 98-95 victory over Goshen College, he was 10-16 overall, 4-7 from downtown and 3-3 from the charity stripe for a game-high 27 points. Huntington (16-3, 5-1) will next travel to Spring Arbor University on Tuesday, January 10, 2006, when they take on the Cougars at 7 p.m.
