Puma pitching silences HU bats

The Saint Joseph's pitching staff limited the Foresters (11-24) to just two runs on seven hits to sweep the doubleheader 7-1 and 5-1.

In the opener, the Pumas got four runs in the top of the third with three coming on a one-out homerun by Jesse Privett. They added another in the sixth to make it 5-0. HU put two of their three hits together in the bottom of the sixth to push their only run of the game across, but the Pumas added two more insurance runs in the seventh to seal the win. Kendra Stahl was the lone Forester with two hits in the game. Lauren Ward took the loss for HU. In six innings of work, she gave up five runs on 10 hits and two walks while striking out seven.

In game two, the two teams traded a run in the first and then went scoreless for the next four innings. Saint Joseph's broke the drought with three runs in the top of the sixth and added one more in the seventh to earn the 5-1 victory. Stahl doubled and scored HU's only run. April Snider had two hits and drove in Stahl. Ashley Scally gave up four runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out two in six innings for the Foresters.
