NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Junior Cendall Ogle shaved over seven seconds off her personal best in the 1500 meter run to punch her ticket to the 2013 NAIA National Track & Field Championships. The Warsaw native ran a 4:40.44, the second fastest time in Huntington history, to finish 12th in the 1500 meters at the Dr. Keeler Invitational hosted by North Central College over the weekend to hit the provisional mark and qualify for her third national track meet of her collegiate career.
Three other HU athletes made the trip to Naperville, Illinois, and also had record-setting performances. Freshman Daniel DeBoni clinched second in the 100 meter dash in 10.76 to claim the top spot in the Forester record books. He missed qualifying for nationals by .02 seconds.
Jake Nash’s leap of 6-06.75 in high jump earned him a No. 4 finish and proved to be a new PR for the rookie. Gretchen Spahr also competed over the weekend and finished 25th in the 5,000 meter run in 18:03.44, nearly nine seconds faster than her previous best.
Senior Lance Wood (marathon) and Ogle (1500 meters) will represent Huntington at the 2013 National Track and Field Championships slated for May 23-25 at Indiana Wesleyan University.
