Nash and Sparks represent HU at nationals

GENEVA, Ohio – Sophomore Jake Nash and freshman Christine Sparks represented Huntington University on day two of the 2014 NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio, Friday afternoon.

Competing for the first time on the national stage, Nash (Lebanon, Ohio, Dayton Christian HS) turned in a personal-best performance of 6-9 in high jump where he outleaped his 12th place seeding by finishing sixth and for his efforts earned All-America honors. Nash currently holds the HU indoor record in high jump.

Sparks (Bloomington, Ind., Bloomington North HS), also making her debut at nationals, toed the line as the 13th-seed in the 1,000 meters and ran a 3:03.12 to claim that same spot in the race.

The Foresters now shift focus to the outdoor season where they are slated to compete over spring break at Emory University (Ga.).
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 39 NAIA All-America honors and 213 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
