Maple Leafs beat HU 3-1 to split season series

GOSHEN, Ind. - The Maple Leafs of Goshen College sought sweet revenge Wednesday night as they downed the Forester volleyball team 3-1, 26-24, 25-18, 18-25, 25-21, at Gingerich Center. The victory avenged a five-set loss to HU back on September 4. It also broke a string of three straight five setters with Huntington as the teams split the season series for the second year in a row.

While the scoreboard favored GC, it was an evenly matched contest on several fronts. Both teams registered 11 blocks. Offensively, Goshen finished with a .167 hitting percentage to HU’s .134. From behind the line, both teams committed eight serving errors on the night while aces favored the Maple Leafs 6-5.

Heather Medich paced HU with ten kills to go along with ten digs and two blocks. Teammates Audrey Mallers and Abbey Keister finished with nine kills apiece. Jensen Carnahan did a little bit of everything for the Foresters to finish with 34 assists, 15 digs, three blocks and three aces. Codie Morey and Katie DePew added 14 digs each.

HU takes a break from conference play this weekend when they travel north to Davenport University for a tournament.
