Recognized in the latest NAIA national poll as two evenly matched teams tied for the 19th spot, Grace College (17-8, 7-4) was the better team Thursday night as the Lancers handed the Foresters of Huntington University (18-7, 6-5) a 81-72 loss at the Orthopaedic Capital Center.

Bruce Grimm wasted no time showing he came ready to play as he scored ten points in the first five minutes to give the Lancers an early 16-3 lead. A stunned Forester squad made little progress over the next 15 minutes as they pulled within nine on a Caleb Kennedy jumper at the 8:33 mark but the Lancers were relentless. They pushed the lead to as many as 18 and by halftime's end, the score favored Grace 49-35.

HU came out of the locker room with renewed energy behind the efforts of sharp-shooting freshman TJ Short. Short knocked down a jumper in the paint and drained two treys as the Foresters outscored the Lancers 21-6 in the first eight minutes to turn a 14-point deficit into a one-point lead at 56-55.

It was Grimm who once again proved to be the Foresters' spoiler as he answered with a traditional three-point play on the next possession to put the Lancers on top for good. HU stayed within striking distance but could never get over the hump as the Lancers had an answer for every Forester run. Up by three, 68-65, with six minutes remaining, Grace turned on the after burners with a 13-7 run to close out the game and secure the 81-72 win.

Tyler Shively finished with 18 points and seven rebounds. Randall Lowe tossed in 14 points and dished out a team-high four assists. Kennedy finished with 11 points and Short came off the bench to score 13. Grimm led all scorers with 27 points. Joining him in double digits was David Henry with 15, Duke Johnson with 12 and Greg Miller with ten.
