Khudziy and Velez receive MCC All-Conference honors

Huntington, Ind. - The Mid-Central Conference (MCC) announced its post-season awards for the 2011-12 men’s tennis season and earning an All-Conference spot for the second year in a row was sophomore Vlad Khudziy and senior Augusto Velez.

Together they play No. 1 doubles for the Foresters where they have accumulated a record of 14-2. They teamed up to claim the ITA Midwest Regional doubles crown and will travel to Mobile, Alabama later this month to participate in the ITA National Small College Championships.

Playing at HU’s No. 1 spot in singles action, Khudziy (Moscow, Russia) has posted 15 wins against one loss. In addition to claiming the 2011 ITA doubles crown, he also successfully defended his ITA singles title from a year ago and will represent the Midwest at the ITA National Singles Championships.

In addition to his success in doubles action, Velez (Lima, Peru) is also a dominate force in singles play where he has amassed an 8-4 record at Huntington’s No. 2 spot.
