Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of Oct. 5-11. Women’s cross country senior Lauren Johnson and men’s cross country senior Joseph Njeri earned the honors for their outstanding efforts during the week’s competitions.
Lauren Johnson, a senior exercise senior major from Huntington, Ind. (Huntington North High School), took home top honors at the annual E. DeWitt Baker Cross Country Invitational this past weekend. Johnson shaved four seconds off her personal best finishing first overall with a time of 18:29. She was nearly two and a half minutes faster than her competition.
Joseph Njeri, a senior sociology major from Nairobi led the Foresters to a first place finish at the E. DeWitt Cross Country Invitational on Saturday. As HU’s top finisher, he placed second overall with a time of 27:49.
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past eleven years, Huntington has produced 64 NAIA All-America honors and 158 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
