Herber and women's distance medley team shine at Taylor Invite

UPLAND, Ind. - The Forester track and field squads turned in several outstanding performances at the 8th annual Taylor Indoor Invitational Saturday afternoon. Joseph Herber hit an NAIA qualifying mark for the second time this season while the women’s 4,000 meter distance relay team punched their ticket to the NAIA Indoor Championships.

Joseph Herber blew away the competition in the 5,000 meter run with his time of 15:10.92, over 37 seconds faster than the second place finisher. In addition to bringing home the top finish, he met the NAIA “A” qualifying mark. Herber has now qualified for two events at the NAIA National Championships. Last month he qualified for the 3,000 meter run at the GVSU Bob Eubanks Open.

The women’s distance medley team made up of Cendall Ogle, Racquel Service, Erin Rockey and Gretchen Spahr brought home the Foresters’ only other win of the day. The foursome crossed the line in 12:53.10 to not only claim first place, but also surpass the NAIA qualifying mark.

Other top ten finishes for Huntington included Racquel Service in the 55 meter dash (6th, 7.59), Natalie Spahr in the 3,000 meter run (6th, 11:14.17), Krystal McHenry in the 5,000 meter run (4th, 20:04.21), Lance Wood in the mile (6th, 4:34.42), Ethan Medley in the 600 meter run (8th, 1:32.81), Seth Murphy in the 1,000 meter run (8th, 2:56.86), Alec Rosario in the 3,000 meter run (7th, 9:13.86), Brian Menzie in the 5,000 meter run (3rd, 16:10.16) and Grant Fitzgerald in triple jump (7th, 39-10.75).
