Handtke to become a Forester


Justin HandtkeHUNTINGTON, Ind. – Huntington University soccer coach Russ Lawson is proud to announce that Covenant Christian High School standout Justin Handtke has decided to continue his collegiate career as a Forester.

The two-time captain tallied 65 career goals during his prep years at CCHS. In his final campaign, Handtke helped guide the Knights to a 10-6-1 record by scoring 20 goals and assisting six others and for his efforts earned First Team NWISC.

“Justin has had great success at the high school level amassing 65 goals over his career,” said Lawson. “. He has the knack for putting himself in the right spot at the right time and when you combine that with his technical ability, I know we are receiving a player who has the potential of making a great impact as a student-athlete here at HU.”

Handtke, younger brother of Forester soccer player James Handtke, will enter in as an HU Honor student. He is the son of Roger and Karen from DeMotte, Indiana.

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 39 NAIA All-America honors and 213 All-America Scholar Athlete honors. Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations.
