WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Competing in the Lancer Invitational hosted by Grace College on Saturday, the Forester women claimed second while the men finished fourth.
Despite her team battling injury once again, Cendall Ogle made sure the HU women still had a solid outing. The veteran ran a 19:17.30 to claim top honors in the 5K out of 90 runners.
Hannah Moore was the next Forester to cross the line in 20:07.80 for tenth place. Placing 14th in 20:18.70 was Natalie Spahr followed by Marie Ditzler who finished 19th in 20:30.70. Krista Wood rounded out Huntington’s scoring by running a 20:36.90 to claim 24th.
Other HU runners included Miranda Boyts (26th, 20:37.70), Gretchen Spahr (31st, 20:54.00), Erin Rockey (47th, 21:44.20) and Kennedy Champion (72nd, 23:05.70).
The Foresters were without Christine Sparks, HU’s #3 runner in last week’s race, while Gretchen Spahr, who didn’t compete last week, ran a tempo in this week’s race.
Indiana Wesleyan claimed the title with 28 points followed by HU (51), Grace (84), Goshen (90), Bethel (144), Saint Francis (169) and IU Kokomo (212).
Tyler Herber paced the Huntington men by clocking a 26:20.00 to finish third out of 93 runners. Eric Baker shaved over 15 seconds off his time last week by running a 27:23.60 for 14th place. Josh Graham posted a 27:46.30 to claim 24th while Austin Presnell was the fourth Forester to cross the line 35th in 28:22.00.
Stephen Kays’ 28:46.60 was good for 45th place and Seth Murphy turned in a 30:01.70 for the 63rd spot.
The Wildcats also took home the men’s title with 47 points followed by Goshen (59), Spring Arbor (85), HU (104), Bethel (105), IU East (174), Grace (194), IU Kokomo (200), Saint Francis (214).
HU will run in the Indiana Intercollegiates next weekend at IU.
