The Foresters competed in the 105th Annual Little State Championships held at Indiana Wesleyan University on Friday and Saturday. The men finished eleventh while the women came in twelfth.
For the women, Michelle Kyler leaped 10-00.00 in the pole vault to finish fourth and ran the first leg of the 4x400 relay that placed sixth. Other HU highlights included a fifth place finish in shot put by Haleigh Osborne (39-03.25) and a sixth place finish in discus by Kelsey Green (134-05).
Bethel College took the women's team title with 140 points followed by Indiana Wesleyan University with 139 and the University of Indianapolis with 98.50. HU was twelfth in the field of 19 teams with a score of 18.
On the men's side, Joseph Herber and Luke Diehl each brought home a first place finish in their respective events. Herber won the 10,000 meters and qualified for nationals with his time of 31:51.27. Diehl set a new personal record and improved on his qualifying time in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a first place finish in 9:22.28. Aaron Mills was fourth in pole vault with a leap of 13-03.50. Todd Fiedler was seventh in triple jump (43-00.50) and eighth in javelin (154-11).
The University of Indianapolis won the men's championship with a team score of 160 followed by Indiana Wesleyan University with 81.33 and Indiana Institute of Technology with 61. The Foresters were eleventh of 19 teams with a score of 28.
