UPLAND, Ind. - With the season winding down, the Foresters competed against a handful of their Crossroads foes and came away with wins in five events at the Taylor University Invitational on Saturday.
Dominating the sprints was freshman Daniel DeBoni who brought home gold in the 100 meter dash (11.04) and 200 meter dash (22.48).
Brandon Hunt was the only other male Forester to cross the line first by running a 1:02.06 in the 400 meter hurdles.
Other top three finishers for HU included Matt Bittner in the 800 meter run (3rd, 2:01.56), Lance Wood in the steeplechase (2nd, 10:40.62) and Jake Nash in high jump (3rd, 6’2).
On the women’s side, Krista Wood and Brianna Gregory turned in HU’s only top finishes. Wood claimed top honors in steeplechase in 12:09.40 while Gregory clinched first in long jump with a leap of 15’8.75. Gregory also ran to a third place finish in the 100 meter dash (13.04) and finished second in triple jump (32’3.25).
Erin Rockey (5:11.72) and Hannah Moore (5:14.73) claimed 2nd and 3rd respectively in the 1500 meter run as did Cendall Ogle (19:17.16) and Gretchen Spahr (19:17.26) in the 5000 meter run.
Ashley Williams’ heave of 115’5” in the hammer not only shattered her previous PR by nearly nine feet but also climbed her to the No. 6 spot in the HU record books.
Other top three finishers included Amanda Henningfield in the 800 meter run (2nd, 2:34.35), Heather Johnson in pole vault (2nd, 9’0.25) and Lindsay Schroeder in pole vault (3rd, 8’6.25) and javelin (3rd, 96’10.50).
The Foresters will wrap up their season by taking a partial squad to compete in the Dr. Keeler Invitational at North Central College later this week.
