HU men take 12th at Boilermaker Classic

LAFAYETTE, Ind. – It’s a new year for the Forester men’s bowling team and they’ve got the results to prove it. HU went from finishing 20th last year at the Boilermaker Classic at Aulby's Arrowhead Bowl to claiming 12th out of 21 teams last weekend at this same tournament.

Adam Harris-Shoemaker paced the team with a 186.6 average in Saturday’s five regular team games to finish 47th individually out of 264 bowlers. Joe Miller averaged a 182.0 to finish 55th overall while James Knapp (174.2 average) also had a solid outing for the Foresters to finish 76th.

Bowling four games on Saturday, Seth Walker turned in a 172.8 average, Dan Miller posted a 158.3 average and Tyler Neff averaged a 157.3.

Huntington rolled team games of 900-956-803-874-819 for a 4352 total to head into Sunday’s Baker games in 13th. Coach Bischoff’s squad was able to jump up a spot by rolling a 2844 on Sunday to finish with a two-day total 7196.

Robert Morris captured the team title for the men with an 8333 total. Other teams to finish ahead of HU included Lindenwood (8030), Morehead State (8020), McKendree (7898), Calumet College of St. Joe (7850), Mount Mercy (7850), Vincennes (7790), Purdue (7691), Lindenwood Belleville (7628), Davenport (7575) and Western Illinois (7293).

It was a little rougher go of it for the HU JV squad as they finished 17th out of 18 teams. Derek Beckler led the way on Saturday with a 172.2 average. Other bowlers included Jordan Retherford (151.0 average for 5 games), Connor Brown (162.8 average for 4 games), Emilio Chantaca (155.3 average for 4 games), Spencer Brewster (136.0 average for 4 games) and Jess Meyers (138.0 average for 3 games).

The Forester JV team finished with team total of 6574 pins.

Huntington heads to Georgia this weekend to compete in the Brunswick Southern Collegiate Classic.
