HUNTINGTON, Ind. - Hosting the 2013 Crossroads League Track and Field Championships, the Foresters turned in several top three finishes at King Track and Field Stadium where the women finished seventh and the men came in eighth.
Daniel DeBoni proved to be one of the league’s top sprinters by finishing third in the 100 meter dash (11.36) to earn All-Conference honors and fourth in the 200 meter dash (22.43).
Also earning All-Conference status for the men with a third place finish was Jake Nash in high jump with a PR leap of 6’5.75.
Logan Knox also turned in a personal best in the hammer where he finished fourth with a toss of 154’7.75, the fifth farthest heave in HU history.
HU also had two Foresters earn points in the meet’s longest races. On Friday, Lance Wood (33:20.04) and Nathan Rupp (33:58.39) ran to a 4th and 8th place finish in the 10,000 meter run. Wood then crossed the line 7th in the 5,000 meter run on Saturday in 15:47.08 while teammate Tyler Herber was at his heels in 8th in 15:47.53.
Indiana Wesleyan clinched the conference title with 173.5 points followed by Spring Arbor (148.5), Taylor (147), Marian (86), Bethel (77), Goshen (69), Grace (61), HU (41) and Saint Francis (16).
Cendall Ogle was one of three Forester women to earn All-Conference honors. She turned in a second place finish in the 1,500 meter run with a PR of 4:47.40, the fifth fastest time in program history, and then earned her team another point in the 5,000 meters (8th, 19:04.00).
Gretchen Spahr clocked an 18:22.94 in the 5,000 meter run good for second place and her second All-Conference honor. Krista Wood was HU’s other All-Conference honoree. She ran a personal best 11:53.16 in the 3,000 meter steeplechase to clinch third.
Other point-getters for Huntington included Hannah Moore in the 5,000 meters (7th, 19:03.06) Holly Lutton in the 100 meter hurdles (7th, 16.86) and Brianna Gregory in the 100 meter dash (6th, 13.33) and long jump (7th, 15’9.25).
Taylor edged past the Pilots for the conference title with 202 points followed by Bethel (197.5), Indiana Wesleyan (144), Spring Arbor (98.5), Marian (90.5), Grace (42.5), HU (40), Goshen (3) and Saint Francis (1).
The Foresters are back in action on Saturday to compete in the Trojan Invitational at Taylor University’s George Glass Track & Field Complex.
