HU downed by UNOH in season opener

HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The season opener for the HU volleyball team (0-1) didn’t go according to plan as Coach Settle’s squad lost in straight sets, 25-2, 25-22, 25-22, to the University of Northwestern Ohio Wednesday evening at Platt Arena.

The Racers wasted no time taking control of the first game by grabbing an early 5-1 lead and never looking back. HU regrouped to stay within striking throughout the rest of the night but could never seem to get over the hump as UNOH held onto a lead through all but four possessions of the match.

Heather Medich led the Forester attack with nine kills while teammate Brittany Rooze added seven. Jensen Carnahan dished 23 assists. Codie Morey finished with 11 digs.

Huntington is back in action this weekend when they travel to the Chicago area for the Trinity Christian College/Saint Xavier University Crossover Tournament.
