The Foresters have made their way to the title game of the Mid-Central Conference tournament with their third consecutive win, a 9-2 victory over Taylor University. HU will face top-seeded Spring Arbor University at noon today for the MCC Championship. Since the Foresters enter the game undefeated, it would require the Cougars to beat HU in back-to-back games to take the title from them.
The Foresters (29-12) got things rolling early against Taylor. They scored one in the first, but then allowed the Trojans to tie it with one in the top of the second. HU immediately reclaimed the lead with a pair of runs in the second and then Austan Kas blew the game open with his first homerun of the season, a three-run shot to left in the third.
Taylor got one back in the fourth, but HU's Andrew Drummond delivered the final blow with a three-run double in the bottom of the sixth.
Kas and Korey Grow led the Foresters at the plate with 4-5 performances. Kas was just a triple away from hitting for the cycle while scoring four times and driving in three runs. Grow's night included a double, one run scored and two RBI. Drummond was 2-4 at the plate and had three RBI.
Eric Randel went the full nine innings in the win. He allowed two runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out three.
