The Foresters opened their spring season with a third place finish in the A. C. Eddy Invitational at Tri-State University. Despite very windy conditions and little previous preparation time on a course, HC posted three scores in the 70s with Dan Knuth shooting a team-best 77 and Wes Knuth and Jay Tropf each chipping in a 78. Justin Knierim provided the final scoring mark with an 83 to give the Foresters a team score of 316.
Host Tri-State won the event with a score of 301. Indiana Wesleyan was second at 306 followed by HC (316), Olivet (320), Aquinas (326), Siena Heights (334) and Alma (351).
Generally, Coach Schownir was pleased with the results of the Foresters first outing of the season. "I was most pleased with individual performances. Dan played steady all day and both Wes and Jay bounced back with solid play after a quadruple-bogey and a triple-bogeyed respectively. Those are the positive things that I look for".
The Foresters improve to 29-45 on the year with their third place finish.
