Gower signs first recruit in Bombino

HUNTINGTON, Ind. - Head coach Doug Gower and the Huntington University softball program have announced their first 2014-15 recruit with the signing of Illiana Christian High School standout Jessica Bombino.

A four-year varsity starter for Illiana, Bombino is an outfielder and brings speed from the left side at the plate with her ability to slap and hit. Despite battling injuries the past few seasons, she posted a .350 batting average as a junior.

During the off season, Bombino has been playing competitive ASA/PGF softball for the past seven as a member of various teams including Illinois Outlaws, NWI Sox, Illinois Hawks and Sparks.

When not on the softball field, Bombino is also involved in Christian Student Services, Youth for Christ, church services in the community and works with disabled children.

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 39 NAIA All-America honors and 213 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
