Ganton named Forester Athlete of the Week

Huntington, Ind.— The Huntington College Athletics Department announced its Athlete of the Week for the week of November 15-21, 2004. Men’s basketball sophomore Kyle Ganton earned the honor for his outstanding efforts during the week’s competitions.

Kyle Ganton, an elementary education major from Coldwater, Mich. (Bronson High School), had an outstanding individual performance to help lead the Foresters to a 3-1 week. In Tuesday’s 81-80 win over NAIA Division II 8th-ranked Indiana Tech, Ganton had the hot hand, going 10-15 from the field, for a team-high 23 points. On Wednesday, he chipped in 17 points in Huntington’s 72-68 overtime win over St. Xavier University. In the Foresters’ opening round of their Hall of Fame Classic, Ganton scored 19 of his game-high 24 points in the second half to lead Huntington to the 75-69 win, and in the championship game of the Classic, he had 18 points in Huntington’s 92-90 overtime loss to Geneva College. Ganton and teammate Alex Kock were named to the All-Tournament team. The Foresters (5-3) return to action on Tuesday, November 23, at 7:00 p.m., when they travel to Indiana Wesleyan University to open conference play.

The Huntington College Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past seven years, Huntington has produced 49 NAIA All-American honors and 91 All-American Scholar Athlete honors.
