The Mid-Central Conference (MCC) has announced its baseball post-season awards for the 2008 spring season. Four Huntington University Foresters were among the list of honorees.
Senior Korey Grow earned his third consecutive All-Conference honor as an outfielder, senior Austan Kas was the top second baseman in the MCC and senior Alex Rinearson was an infield selection. Indiana Wesleyan’s pitcher Brandon Moore was named the MCC Player of the Year and Sam Riggleman, Spring Arbor’s head coach, was named Coach of the Year.
Joining the Foresters on the All-Conference Team were Jesse Bachman (Spring Arbor), Jim Baker (Spring Arbor), Andrew Biskupski (Bethel), Christian Burrell (Taylor), Taylor Futterknecht (St. Francis), Joseph Myers (Spring Arbor), Colin O’Connel (Spring Arbor), Paul Passiales (Taylor), Jeff Pierce (Indiana Wesleyan), Travis Potchka (St. Francis), Nelson Sanchez (Bethel), Reid Spitaels (Bethel) and Eric Vojkofsky (Spring Arbor).
Two Foresters also earned a spot on the Golden Glove Team which honors the players with the best fielding percentage by position. Kas repeated as the second base choice and senior Thad Frame was the top fielding shortstop in the MCC. Other position players selected included first baseman Jarrod Wehri (St. Francis), third baseman Michael Kraynak (Taylor), catcher Josh Gerald (Marian), pitcher Jesse Bachman (Spring Arbor) and outfielders Jon Schaible (Spring Arbor), Matt Burthay (Indiana Wesleyan) and Taylor Wilde (Taylor).
