The Forester volleyball
team hosted a tournament on Saturday and dropped both games in straight sets.
In a match-up that pitted Huntington against the University of Rio Grande, it took extra points to determine the outcome of the first two games. Unfortunately it was the the Red Storm that came out on top as they used this momentum to cruise to the win, 27-25, 31-29, 25-15. Freshmen Kaylee Searles and Melissa Grossman paced HU with seven kills each. Rebekah Brown chipped in six kills, eight digs and three blocks while Emilie Jamison finished with 23 assists.
In their second match of the day, the Foresters faced Purdue University North Central. HU dominated early but a line-up violation that resulted in significant points being taken away from the Foresters seemed to take the wind right out of their sails. They were never able to recoup, losing in three 25-18, 25-20, 25-21. Searles again led the Foresters with 11 kills and 14 digs. Courtney Berger finished with nine kills and two blocks. Jamison dished out 25 assists and recorded five blocks.
The Foresters are 2-26. They host #8-ranked Taylor University on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
