Foresters upend Judson

After upsetting NAIA Division I Georgetown College the night before, the Huntington University Foresters came back in their second game of the Huntington Classic and upended Judson University 76-56. With the win, Huntington moves to 3-0 to start the season.

Things were tight early in the contest as the two teams played through three ties and a lead change over the first nine minutes of play. It was Huntington that finally put together a string of defensive stops to turn a 13-12 lead into a 25-14 advantage with 6:25 to go in the half. Two Judson free throws cut it to nine, but the Foresters ended the half on a 12-2 run to take a 37-18 lead at intermission.

The Eagles emerged from the locker room and knocked down back-to-back treys to cut their deficit to 13, but Huntington countered with an 11-4 run to push the margin up to 20 at 48-28 at the 16:42 mark. On three other occasions, Judson battled back within 13, but each time the Foresters had an answer.

Tournament MVP Jenna Donaldson topped four players in double figures for the Foresters with 22 points. Lauren Davenport, who joined Donaldson on the All-Tournament team, added 14 points and six assists. Kelsey Green came off the bench to chip in 14 points and six rebounds and Brittney Bateman finished with 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Aubrey Parsons paced the Eagles with 20 points and Alicia Rovertoni grabbed a game-high 11 boards.

Huntington shot 50% from the field hitting 30 of 60 shots while the Eagles were 21-57 for 36.8%. The Foresters also out-rebounded Judson 39-33.
