Foresters take second at Malone Invitational

CANTON, Ohio - Playing at Tannenhauf Golf Club in Alliance, Ohio, over the weekend, the Huntington golf team shot an impressive 589 to finish second at the Malone University Spring Invitational.

After firing a three-over-par 291 on Friday to sit three strokes out of first behind host Malone University, the Foresters turned in a 298 on day two to hold its spot and finish 13 strokes behind the Pioneers.

Jordan Dawes and Mickey Belt each finished with a one-over-par 145 to pace the Foresters. Based on the final nine holes, Dawes (73, 72) was awarded fourth place ahead of Belt (71, 74). Matt Wilson came in seventh with a 150 (74, 76) while Devin Dale finished tenth with a 152 (73, 79). Josh Teulker shot a 156 (80, 76) to round out HU's scoring. Playing as an individual, Matt Johnson turned in a 174 (86, 88).

Malone finished with a one-under-par 575 followed by HU (589), Notre Dame College (634), Northwestern Ohio (635), Grove City (645), Mercyhurst (656) and Mount Vernon Nazarene (669).

The Foresters improve to 50-17. They are back in action on Thursday when they head up north to compete in the Spring Arbor University Invitational. 
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 53 NAIA All-America honors and 187 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
