Foresters hang tough with IWU

HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The HU volleyball team jumped out to an early lead in all three sets but couldn’t hang on as the Wildcats of Indiana Wesleyan University swept the Foresters, 25-17, 25-16, 25-23, Wednesday night at Platt Arena.

The Foresters’ never-say-die attitude was never more evident in the third set where they took it down to the wire before IWU, ranked 20th in last week’s national poll, finally pulled out the win. Accounting for half her team’s offense was Melissa Grossman who finished with a game-tying ten kills.

Huntington committed only two serving errors to the Wildcats’ ten but IWU was dominate at the net, outhitting HU 36-20 and racking up seven team blocks to HU’s two. Jensen Carnahan dished out 19 assists while Codie Morie tallied 14 digs.

The Foresters (2-11, 1-5) hit the road on Friday to face Mount Vernon at 7:00 p.m.
